Photography Exhibition, Sierra Hall, West Campus

Please stop by the Sierra Hall Gallery (1st Floor) on West Campus to visit an exhibition of photographs from Art 170, Basic Photography students. On November 5th, students spent 3 hours photographing and collecting garbage near Dry Creek. This display exhibits 2 images from each student, as well as some of the refuse they collected. These photographers went looking for what is often overlooked, to identify a sense of place that is both beautiful and disconcerting. Photographer Robert Adams wrote, “photography ought to start with and remain faithful to the appearance of the world, and in so doing record contradictions. The greatest pictures would then… find wholeness in the torn world.”
This work is on display until Friday, December 5th.
