A play by Bernard Pomerance, and directed by Michael Lynch, MJC Professor of Theater Arts.
The MJC Theater Department presents The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance on March 24, 25, 26 and 31, and April 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 3 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus. The play is based on the life of Joseph Merrick, a physically deformed man forced to display himself in travelling sideshows as “The Elephant Man.” Eventually he is befriended by Dr. Frederick Treves who is determined to help him lead a normal life. Although he becomes the toast of society, he finds that normality isn’t something he can achieve, or even necessarily wants. The MJC production is directed by Professor of Theater Arts Michael Lynch.
Tickets are also available at the door beginning 90 minutes prior to each performance.
